CMC Sisak New Melt Shop – the Blue Giant
The project of modernization of the new Melt Shop at CMC Sisak has officially pronounced open - on Friday 28th and in the presence of mr. Hanns Zöellner, US Ambassador in Croatia mr. James B. Foley, Sisak City Mayor, Sisak County Prefect and many of our business partners, constructors, suppliers and customers!
Our biggest development project has been made on more than 25.000 m² with 40 contractors and the engagement of around 1200 people. We are proud to say that the project is finished without a single injury! We are now 251 (and counting) days without injuries!
The project includes the installation of the restructured EAF, capacity of 60 t and with state of the art equipment:
- new EAF transformer, 60MVA
- water cooling panels systems
- additional chemical energy system for steel melting with new gas burners and automatic carbon and oxygen blows during casting
The EAF itself has all corresponding facilities:
- new bag-house in accordance with IPPC directive
- new water cooling system with additional chemical water supply
- modernized system of collecting and transportation of scrap with built-in radioactivity detectors
- critical energy water tower

With the installation of our new EAF the capacity of the Melt Shop will gradually increase from today’s 70.000 t/yr to final 460.000 t in the next two years!
